Written
public comments on the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s
six-year strategic plan – Wildlife 2012 – may be
submitted now through October 6. To review a draft of the
20-page strategic plan, visit the AZGFD’s website at
http://www.azgfd.gov/inside_azgfd/strategic_plan.shtml.
The
plan currently includes several items focused on off-road
vehicles, including the agency’s intent to “promote”
their use and to recognize “their rightful place in the
multiple use ethic that drives public lands management.”
Because of the risk of habitat fragmentation from off-road
vehicle use, the agency instead should limit the impact of
these activities on wildlife and habitat.
