HTML or PDF: Which should you choose?

HTML is the easiest for most browsers to read, but it will probably print the letter with a line of unwanted text at the top and bottom of the page, and the margins and text sizing are sometimes unpredictable. HTML is the best if you want to edit the sample letter to personalize it: to do so open the HTML version of the letter and then use your computer's COPY and PASTE functions to paste the text into a word processing program.

Letters in PDF format cannot be edited, but will print as the document designer intended for it to look. Acrobat Reader is required for viewing PDF files. It's automatically installed with most modern web browsers, and it's available for free installation at the Adobe website (www.adobe.com).

HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. PDF stands for Portable Document Format.
