26,000 Animals Saved through Fix Adopt Save Program

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, community leaders, and animal protection groups
attended the Fix.Adopt.Save (FAS) press conference on March 1st to announce progress so far on a three-year campaign that began in April 2013, to decrease pet homelessness in Maricopa County. Seven organizations including ADLA, have worked together to decrease euthanasia by 71 per cent since 2012, saving over 26,000 dogs and cats.
ADLA President Stephanie Nichols-Young spoke about ADLA’s Spay Neuter Hotline, the importance of increasing availability and awareness of spay/neuter surgeries through free and low-cost options and Trap Neuter Return. Cat euthanasia has decreased by 79 per cent since 2012. These combined efforts have also decreased intake at shelters by 38%, about 32,000 animals. You can watch Stephanie's presentation here.
