UPDATE:
The
Senate vote on the Ensign-Byrd horse slaughter amendment has
been postponed and may take place in the next several days.
If you have not already done so, please call Senators Kyl
and McCain and ask them to vote YES on the Ensign-Byrd horse
slaughter amendment on the Agriculture Appropriations bill.
Please ask family and friends to also call in (information
and links are below). Thank you for getting so many calls
in to Senators Kyl and McCain! This may be our last chance
to stop horse slaughter, so lets keep up the momentum!

In
June, ADLA supporters helped to win the House vote to ban
horse slaughter. Now we are asking for your help again to
win the final vote!
Please
call Senators Kyl and McCain today or Monday and ask them
to vote YES on the Ensign-Byrd horse slaughter amendment.
Senator
John McCain
(202) 224-2235
Senator
Jon Kyl
(202) 224-4521
You
can leave a message on both Senators direct lines after
hours. For people who live outside Arizona, look up senate
contact information here: www.hsus.org/leglookup.
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote early Tuesday, September
13, on the Ensign-Byrd amendment to prevent tax dollars from
being used to promote horse slaughter. Your help was instrumental
in winning a strong victory in the House in June. Now we must
bring it home in the Senate in order for a ban to become law.
Please take action right now -- make a phone call to urge your
two U.S. Senators to vote YES
on the Ensign-Byrd amendment.
We have come so close. We must win this last step to save thousands
horses from slaughter -- it all rides on the Senate vote now.
Your
phone call could make all the difference. Not sure what to
say? Here's a sample phone script for when you call:

"My
name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your city and state].
I'm calling to urge Senator [your Senator's name] to vote
YES on the upcoming Ensign-Byrd* amendment on the Agriculture
Appropriations bill to stop horse slaughter. I care very much
about our horses and am horrified that thousands are sent
to slaughter for European and Asian markets each year. Thank
you."
