What: Seminar on U.S. Border Patrol proposal's impact on wildlife

The Animal Defense League of Arizona, the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sierra Club and the Phoenix Zoo will host an event to talk about what they feel are the negative effects on wildlife and ecology of some new U.S. Border Patrol activities along the Arizona/Sonora border.The proposed changes would allow unlimited access for motor vehicles, building walls that could close critical wildlife corridors, road-building and other off-road activities on federally protected land.

Come hear "The Environmental Consequences of a Failed Policy" by Jenny Neeley of Defenders of Wildlife and "Threats to Cross-Border Linkages in the Sky Islands" by Kim Vacariu of the Wildlands Project.

January 30 is the deadline for comments on the border proposal's environmental impact statement.
